UPDATED: White Nationalist Conference Cancelled
The America First Political Action Conference, which would have featured an assortment characters from the far right fringe and figures from the White Nationalist movement, has been cancelled.
UPDATE: Updated with a statement from the management of The Siren Hotel.
Nick Fuentes, the far right antisemitic White Nationalist propagandist, has announced that the America First Political Action Conference (AFPAC) has been cancelled, and said in a statement that the venue “will not permit us to go forward with the event.”
In a statement posted to Telegram, Fuentes claimed that AFPAC organizers had “finished setting up our stage and then the venue called the cops to kick us out 24 hours before the event,’ and adding that “this isn’t over.”
The announcement of the cancellation included a promise that tonight AFPAC sponsors and VIP guest would be invited to an “exclusive, closed-door event.” As reported by , Fuentes’ so-called “Groypers” apparently plan to attend an “intimate dinner” at the Ash Bar, located on the second floor of the Siren Hotel in downtown Detroit.
[UPDATE] However, according to a statement from the management of the hotel: “The Siren Hotel is not hosting nor has hosted any events associated with AFPAC nor Nick Fuentes,” and “Our restaurant was closed last night for a private event but it had absolutely no association with these parties.”
The assortment characters from the far right fringe and figures from the White Nationalist movement that planned to attend AFPAC quickly responded on social media, with one attendee claiming that the “venue 100% planned this from the beginning,” and “there’s no way they didn’t know what they were doing,” and another attendee promising that “this will only strengthen our resolve,” and to “trust the plan.”
I love to think it really was a planned last-minute cancellation because it seems good to disrupt the plotting of the destruction of our democracy, but it would be interesting to know more about that.
“Trust the plan” — any idea what that entails??
Does anyone else find it ironic that the head of a white supremacist group is named Fuentes, an Hispanic last name? What do he and Enrique Torrio hate about themselves?
