Far right anti-LGBTIQ groups, radical fundamentalist Christian Nationalists, and White Supremacist violent extremist groups have targeted various LGBTIQ events during Pride Month.
Far right anti-LGBTIQ groups, radical fundamentalist Christian Nationalists, and White Supremacist violent extremist groups have targeted various LGBTIQ events during Pride Month.
Members of Patriot Front, the White Nationalist neo-fascist group, reportedly staged a protest in Prattville, Alabama to “protest a picnic hosted for the city’s LGBTQ+ community,” however, “counter protesters from the picnic used colorful umbrellas to try to shield the attendees.”
Patriot Front also staged protests of Pride and LGBTIQ events in several locations around the country, including Tulsa Pride in Tula, Oklahoma; Wind River Pride in Lander, Wyoming; and Ozarks Pride Festival in Springfield Missouri.
NorCal Active Club, the chapter of the White Supremacists group, and Patriot Front targeted a Pride events in Rancho Cordova, California. A protester said that he was there because he “wanted to see what kind of groomers were out here trying to take advantage of kids.” Jeffery Perrine, a member of the Proud Boys, reportedly attended the protest and “immediately shook hands with a member of NorCal Active Club.”
The Northwest Nationalist Alliance, a white supremacist neo-Nazi group, staged a protest against the Pride in Perry event in Spokane, Washington.
Protect Texas Kids, the far right anti-LGBTIQ group associated with a self-proclaimed “Christian fascists,” staged multipole protest of Pride and LGBTIQ events throughout Texas, including protesting Pride events in Arlington and Denton.
Members of Texas chapter of the New Columbia Movement, a radical traditionalist Catholic and Christian Nationalist group, also joined Protect Texas Kids at the various protest of Pride events in Texas.
MassResistance, the far right anti-LGBTIQ group with chapters in several states, organized protest of LGBTIQ events in Chula Vista, California; Pocatello, Idaho; Rexburg, Idaho; Rio Rancho, New Mexico; and Gillette, Wyoming.
A pair of unidentified men interrupted a sermon on Pride Month at United Church of Christ in Enfield, Connecticut, and the men reportedly “had been there for about an hour before the outburst and were actively not participating.” The unidentified men were not arrested, and no charges have been filed.
In the Fry’s Spring and Johnson Village neighborhoods of Charlottesville, Virginia, flyers produced by the Klu Klux Klan were distributed that reportedly “protested an unauthorized video showing a Pride celebration at the local Johnson Elementary School.” In Hudson, Ohio, a “Pride flag was taken from a resident’s home on Colony Drive and burned,” a local law enforcement is reportedly investigating the incident.
It's so telling that they always hide their faces...
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. They are NOT entitled to force that opinion on anyone else. If these people wish to protest then do it peacefully not interfering with other's rights. Hiding their faces when protesting is an act of cowardice.
