School Board Watch: The Far Right's Connections to School Board Candidates
Radical Reports special coverage of the far right's connections to local school board candidates ahead of the elections November.
Over the next several weeks, Radical Reports will be publishing research and reporting on the far right’s connections to candidates for local office, with a particular focus on local school board candidates ahead of the elections November.
In the coming days, Radical Reports will be publishing profiles of candidates for local school boards, and these profiles will include the examining the candidates’ connections to far right groups, revealing the individuals and groups funding candidates’ campaigns, and highlighting public statements by the candidates.
Radical Reports will also be publishing investigations into the networks of so-called “parents’ rights” groups, and explain how these groups are connected to the larger ecosystem of right-wing advocacy organizations and how these groups attempt to mainstream far right anti-LGBTIQ propaganda.
Finally, Radical Reports will be publishing an interactive map, which will display the locations of school board candidates around the country; the groups that endorse, support, or are connected to the candidates; and the individuals and groups funding the candidates’ campaigns.
Later today, the first of the profiles will be published - and will focus on several candidates for school boards in Iowa. If you have any information regarding candidates for your local school board and their connections to far right groups, please email any tips to radicalreportsnewsletter@gmail.com.
Please (please!) look into Temecula, California. It seems a local "pastor" who has completely politicized his pulpit (IRS infractions) is a major stirrer of trouble in multiple communities of the Inland Empire. Plus, crazy right wing activists are drawn like moths around a porch light to come to these communities to add to the discord. "One Temecula Valley" is a distinguished bipartisan attempt to gather and disseminate true information (as opposed to the fear-mongering) and are attempting to gather signatures to force a recall vote.
Yup. Been following my school board fairly closely. I’m in a TRUE BLUE state. We elect moderate Republican Governors occasionally, but the populace is mainly true blue. Hard for any right wing extremism to get a foothold around here. There are some. But they are few in number and members. My hometown school board has been safe thus far and I assume it will be for a long while. Sentiments don’t change on a whim around here.
