writes that “Trump won’t use the word terror in such a way. But when he labels his opponents to be enemies of the people, fulminates against the deep state, and declares “I am your retribution” the ethos is the same. Set aside how much the retribution is driven by his interests, versus those of his supporters. The key point is that Trump has normalized retribution as a proper scope of presidential action and the use of political power. Terror becomes the perverted populist funhouse mirror of patriotism.”
writes that “MAGA Republicans want the majority of Americans to believe the election doesn’t matter and stay home on election day. For the lolz but ultimately for the win. We’ve beaten them multiple times now and I believe we can beat them again come November. But we need to be clear-eyed about what the true aims of MAGA Republicans are and how far they’re willing to go. Right now, I think it’s especially important to understand and internalize that they want us demoralized and why. It’s a helpful reminder, especially in a year of one brutal news cycle after another about the election.”
writes that “Donald Trump loving Kari Lake—who is the frontrunner to be the GOP’s US Senate nominee in Arizona--made headlines this week for giving a speech standing in front of Confederate Flag. As the New York Times reported on Friday, footage of Lake’s speech confirmed that she delivered a speech in a store with a large Confederate flag positioned behind her as she repeated lies that Trump actually won the 2020 election. In fact, she bragged to the Trump loving crowd while standing in front of the Confederate battle flag, ‘I am the only person running for U.S. Senate, either Republican or Democrat, who truly believes there was fraud in the election in 2020-- does anyone else here believe that?’ In response, the MAGA crowd cheered.”
writes that “the American College of Pediatricians has been hugely influential in the promotion of anti-trans policy in the United States, relying in part to its misleading name. Members of the organization testify in state houses and courtrooms across the United States, misleading legislators into thinking they are the much larger American Academy of Pediatrics, the professional society that represents 67,000 pediatricians in the United States.”
writes that “those coming to PRIDE were made to feel welcomed and secure once on the festival grounds but they still had to pass through the human minefield of these self-righteous, sign-waving, sermonizing, self-appointed moral police. And for all their talk of protecting the young, they simply couldn’t resist preying upon them. After an hour or so and some histrionics from the protestors, the local sheriff instructed them to leave immediately or be fined. Why? Because, despite law enforcement’s specific and repeated warnings, these supposed Christians continued to directly confront young children as they entered with their families, saying things to seven and eight year-olds like, ‘Do you know your parents are helping send you to hell?’ and ‘Do you know all these people are dangerous?’”
writes that “the Sandy Hook families spent years seeking to hold Jones responsible in court, with juries in Connecticut and Texas awarding them more than $1.4 billion in damages against Jones and Infowars’ parent company Free Speech Systems (FSS). But since April of 2022, Jones has largely relied on strategic bankruptcy filings to evade responsibility for the cruel and destructive forces he unleashed. That legal shell game may finally be coming to an end, however, or at least entering a period of clarity with a hearing at the end of this week on June 14th.”
