This Week's Recommended Reading on Substack:
writes that “White supremacy, white nationalism, and far-right extremism are sustained not only through group affiliation and political propaganda, but through a broad collection of texts and a broad coalition of producers that create an erroneous yet fundamentally consistent worldview. This is part of a larger project examining the American far right’s interactions with texts—some self-authored and some misappropriated from mainstream culture—to build a national narrative.”
writes that “if you’re worried about Trump dealing a deathblow to democracy, in a strange way I think the last couple weeks have actually been somewhat reassuring. The Gaetz debacle showed that Trump not only can’t get everything he wants, but remains disorganized and prone to damaging own-goals. It takes a profound lack of discipline and judgment to burn any political capital on the likes of Gaetz. Trump’s incompetence often got in the way of his authoritarian designs the first time around. The early returns of his transition back to office and the insanity surrounding it indicate he hasn’t changed.”
and write that “in states across the country, educational officials are seeking to incorporate Christianity into public school curriculums. While understanding religion is part of a well-rounded education, these efforts have been controversial because they emphasize Christianity over other faiths and give young students the impression that theological concepts are facts. Parents, including many Christians, are concerned that these lessons are less about educating students than indoctrinating them.”
writs that “writes that “it’s hard to overstate how dark things might get. Many voters seemed to truly believe Trump when he said he would leave abortion to the states. In fact, Trump’s plan seems to be to leave abortion to others in his administration — and unlike Trump, who truly does not care about abortion rights one way or the other, many other people on his team very much do want to criminalize the procedure and punish those involved in it (that list of “anyone involved” will inevitably also include women having abortions).”
writes that U.S. Reps. Nancy Mace’s new bill “would force transgender individuals to use bathrooms aligned with their sex assigned at birth or gender-neutral restrooms—a level of restriction that, until now, has been largely confined to schools and public buildings in a limited number of Republican-controlled states… This includes cultural landmarks such as the Smithsonian Museums, the National Gallery of Art, and the National Zoo, as well as military bases, VA hospitals, and federal government buildings.”
writes that “to win over the long haul we both need inspiration and construction — we need an attractive vision that brings folks in and we need concrete ways to make that vision a reality. You can both talk to your coworkers about worker ownership or a four-day workweek and talk to them about forming a union. This is how the left wins, and why the left is the only site for comprehensive resistance and victory against fascism.”
writes that “Social media is meant to be, you know, social. Being social requires certain rules of decorum. One of the rules in my household is you don’t accuse me of being a pedophile or a genocide-apologist. You don’t call me ‘faggot’ or ‘retard’ or hurl antisemitic bile at me. You don’t threaten me or my family. You behave yourself. If you can’t do those things, I throw you out of my house. My account is my house. When the neighbors are all breaking the rules of decorum, I have no choice but to move. So, I moved.”
Thank you so much for including me in the list, Teddy! My little Substack is slowly and steadily growing. I'm glad to see more attention to American Renaissance's conference, and their obsession with remigration and deportation, in the GPAHE report you shared this week also. In my next post, I have an quotation from founder Jared Taylor several years ago talking about his "fantasy" that Trump will start to speak more explicitly in favor of white interests. It truly sucks to see Jared Taylor's dreams come true.
