On this day in 1995, a right-wing extremist and White supremacist terrorist detonated a bomb that destroyed the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and killed 168 people.
Morning Briefing: At 9:02am on April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh, right-wing extremists and White supremacist terrorist, detonated a truck filled with more than 4,800 pounds of an ammonium nitrate fertilizer, nitromethane, and diesel fuel mixture, in front of the north side of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The explosion killed 168 people, and injured hundreds of people.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland: “Twenty-seven years later, the Justice Department remains vigilant in the face of the threat of domestic terrorism. We believe that the time to address threats of violence is before the violence occurs, so we are putting our resources into disrupting terrorist plots. We also remain committed to holding accountable those who perpetrate such attacks, which are aimed at rending the fabric of our democratic society and driving us apart.”
