Morning Briefing: U.S. House Select Committee Votes to Recommend Peter Navarro and Daniel Scavino for Charges of Contempt of Congress
The U.S. House Select Committee voted unanimously to cite Peter Navarro and Daniel Scavino for criminal contempt of Congress and refer them for prosecution.
Morning Briefing: The U.S. House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack on Monday night voted unanimously to approve a report recommending that the House of Representatives cite Peter Navarro and Daniel Scavino for criminal contempt of Congress and refer them for prosecution. U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the U.S. House Select Committee, said during his opening statement that “these two men played a key role in the ex-President’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election".
Internal White House phone records from January 6, 2021, which have been turned over to the Select Committee, reportedly show a gap 7 hours and 37 minutes. The ongoing Congressional investigations and investigative reporting about the former President’s plot to overturn the 2020 election, “revealed week-by-week to be deeper and broader than it initially appeared.”
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) said that he's "not confident" that Mark Meadows, former White House chief of staff, has handed over all relevant documents to the Select Committee. Jared Kushner, the former President’s son-in-law and senior advisory during the Trump administration, will reportedly appear voluntarily before the Select Committee this week.
