Moms for Liberty County Chapters Growing Connections to Far Right Groups
At least nine county chapters of Moms for Liberty have connections or associations with the far right violent extremists street gang the Proud Boys.
New reporting and research reveals that least nine county chapters of Moms for Liberty have connections or associations with the Proud Boys, the far right violent extremists street gang with several chapters around the country.
Bridget Ziegler, the co-founder of Moms for Liberty and has been photographed with members of the Proud Boys, has said that the “Proud Boys are a menace” and “they aren’t involved in the work,” and that the Proud Boys “attend public events and try to photo bomb every photo just to secure attention and headlines.”
Tina Descovich, the co-founder Moms for Liberty, said in a recent appearance on C-SPAN that she does not know any member of the Proud Boys and that she does not “affiliate with that organization.” Descovich went on to say that she could not argue with “lies and false information,” and issued a challenged for “someone to point out anyone in our organization that is meeting with the Proud Boys.”
There is no evidence or documentation of Moms for Liberty county chapters having meetings with local chapters of the Proud Boys, and there is no evidence or documentation that show direct organizing or coordination between the groups.
However, there is a growing body of evidence that documents relationships between Moms for Liberty county chapters leaders and members of the Proud Boys, and that the groups are ideologically aligned often appear together at events such as protest and school board meetings.
Riverside County (CA): Celeste Fiehler, the chair of the Moms for Liberty chapter in Riverside County, California, attended a protest with far right activist including Louie Mario Flores, a member of the Proud Boys who was present at the Capitol during the January 6th Insurrection.
Miami-Dade County (FL): Eulalia María Jiménez-Hincapie, the chair of the Moms for Liberty chapter in Miami-Dade County, Florida, has well documented connections to Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the Proud Boys, as well as Chris Barcenas, a member of the Proud Boys who was present at the Capitol during the January 6th Insurrection.
Sarasota County (FL): James Hoel and Nick Radovich, members of the Proud Boys, were photographed with members of the Moms for Liberty chapter in Sarasota, Florida. Bridget Ziegler, the co-founder of Moms for Liberty and the chair of the Sarasota County school board, was among those in the picture.
DuPage County (IL): Shannon Adcock is the chair of Moms for Liberty chapter in DuPage County, Illinois, as well as the founder and president of Awake Illinois. Terry Newsome, an anti-LGBTIQ activist and member of the Proud Boys, has reportedly organized with Awake Illinois, and Newsome has been a featured speaker at events sponsored Awake Illinois.
New Hanover County (NC): The Cape Fear Proud Boys encouraged members to attend events organized by the Moms for Liberty chapter in New Hanover County, North Carolina — the group is “typically present at the same ones.” During the previous two years, members of the Proud Boys have appeared at multiple New Hanover public school board meetings.
Bucks County (PA): During the Taking Back the Republic event in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, members of the Proud Boys were among other right-wing groups that hosted a both, “including branded folding chairs.” Members of the Moms for Liberty chapter in Bucks County, Pennsylvania were at the event, and the Moms for Liberty is listed as a member of the Pennsylvania Patriot Coalition (sponsor of the event).

Charleston County (SC): Members of the Charleston County, South Carolina chapter of Moms for Liberty and the Proud Boys have reportedly appeared together while participating in anti-mask protests.
Hamilton County (TN): Bobby Bean, a member of the Proud Boys who was present at the Capitol during the January 6th Insurrection, was photographed with members of the Moms for Liberty chapter in Hamilton County, Tennessee.
