This month, U.S. Department of Justice announced that “more than 775 defendants have been arrested in nearly all 50 states,” and “approximately 224 individuals have pleaded guilty to a variety of federal charges.”

During the month of March, at least 21 individuals have been arrested and charged, 24 individuals have been convicted or plead guilty, and 9 individuals have been sentenced, according to Sedition Tracker.

The majority of the Capitol Riot defendants have been charged using evidence from their personal social media accounts, from the social media accounts of others, or both (77 percent), 104 are women (13 percent), and 100 have military experience (13 percent), according to Program on Extremism’s Capitol Hill Siege tracking project.

The Department of Justice is “seeking 131 more attorneys to pursue prosecutions streaming from the sprawling investigation” into the Capitol Riot, and the request was part of the Department’s budget request of $37.65 billion for fiscal year 2023.
