American Far Right Reaction to Bolsonaro Supporters Storming Brazil's State Institutions
The American far right cheered on the Bolsonaro supporters storming Brazil's state institutions, but also claimed without evidence that the riot was false flag and that Bolsonaro was poisoned.
The American far right has yet to settle on a dominated narrative to explain the recent events in Brazil—thousands of supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro stormed the government’s institutions.
Alyssa Blakemore reported for The Daily Caller that “Mr. Bolsonaro’s supporters took up the former president’s charge, both literally and figuratively, in scenes likened by some to the January 6, 2021 invasion of the US Capitol by supporters of former President Donald Trump. Protestors have been camped outside the capital in the weeks following the presidential election”
Tom Ozimek wrote in The Epoch Times that “Mass protests have gripped Brazil since the runoff, with Bolsonaro’s supporters casting doubt on the authenticity of the election results and demanding that the military intervene. While Bolsonaro hasn’t directly claimed fraud in the election, he said in November that the protests were the fruit of ‘indignation and a sense of injustice.’”
‘Marxist Dictator Lula Declares State of Emergency Over Pro-Democracy Protests’
Daniel Greenfield writes in Front Page that “ever since the fraudulent election theft used to topple Brazil’s legitimately elected president Jair Bolsonaro, pro-democracy protests have continued, especially in rural areas. After declaring a state of emergency, Lula has vowed to extend his crackdown on the pro-democracy protests to punish an assortment of political opponents.”
Matt Vespa writes in Townhall that “it could be just a few days of media coverage and articles, or this could become a week-long marathon in a pathetic and futile exercise to make Americans care about that little riot in January of 2021, which no one cares about anymore except liberals and Liz Cheney. The initial headlines are already outrageous.”
